The Hive Stadium

Home of Barnet FC

🏟️ Brief Description

The Hive Stadium, often referred to simply as The Hive, is the home of Barnet FC and one of the most modern non-league football venues in the London area. Located in Canons Park, North West London, the stadium has a capacity of approximately 6,500 and forms part of a wider sports and community complex that includes training pitches, indoor facilities, and club offices.

Primarily hosting National League football, The Hive also stages women’s football, youth fixtures, cup competitions, and community sporting events. Its modern design, good transport links, and multi-pitch setup make it a standout venue outside the EFL, offering a professional matchday experience while retaining a strong local feel.

📝 History of The Hive Stadium

The Hive Stadium opened in 2013, developed by Barnet FC as part of a long-term strategy to secure a sustainable future for the club. Prior to the move, Barnet played at Underhill Stadium, a much-loved but outdated ground that could no longer meet modern requirements.

The move to The Hive marked a significant shift, providing Barnet with purpose-built facilities capable of supporting professional football operations, youth development, and community sport. The complex was designed not just as a matchday venue, but as a full-time football and sports hub.

Since opening, The Hive has hosted Football League matches during Barnet’s spell in League Two, as well as National League fixtures following relegation. It has also become an important venue for women’s football, serving as a home for clubs during redevelopment periods and hosting league and cup fixtures across multiple levels of the women’s game.

While the relocation from Underhill was controversial among sections of the fanbase, The Hive has established itself as one of the best-equipped non-league stadiums in England and a central pillar of Barnet FC’s operational structure.
