So the honest answer is usually: don’t stay by the ground. Central Paris puts you near the food and the bars with a straightforward Métro ride to the match. The 16th and Boulogne-Billancourt — closest to the ground
Porte de Saint-Cloud on Métro line 9 is about 350 metres from the stadium, and Porte d’Auteuil on line 10 is the other realistic option. The surrounding 16th is handsome, residential and very quiet — and Boulogne-Billancourt, just over the boundary, has more mid-range rooms than the arrondissement itself.
Staying here means walking to the match and skipping the Métro crush afterwards. The cost is your evening: this is not the part of Paris anyone travels to for a night out, and you will be riding back in for dinner.
Around Gare du Nord — step off the train, drop the bag
The Eurostar arrives at Gare du Nord, and staying within a few minutes of it removes the most annoying part of a short trip: hauling a bag across a city you have just arrived in.
It is a working railway district rather than a beautiful one, but the connections are excellent in every direction, and for a one-night away day the convenience genuinely outweighs the charm. It also makes an early return train painless.
Central Paris — the Right Bank, Marais and Opéra
If the football is one part of the trip rather than the whole of it, stay central. You get the restaurants, the bars and the walkable evening that the 16th cannot offer, and the Métro to Porte de Saint-Cloud is a simple ride on line 9.
For most people doing a Paris away day properly, this is the right base.
Montparnasse and the Left Bank
A calmer alternative to the Right Bank with plenty of rooms and good food, and a reasonable run across to the west of the city. Worth checking when central rates look stretched.

Paris is not one accommodation market either. A midweek Ligue 1 fixture barely registers, but a Champions League knockout night, a fixture against a club with a large travelling support, or a match landing on a trade-fair or holiday weekend can move the whole city. Because you are booking across the Channel and often months ahead, the spread between a quiet date and a busy one is wider than anything you would see for a London ground.
Any “from” figure printed here would be stale the moment the fixture list moved, and it would tell you less than thirty seconds on a live search will. Two things hold true across dates: for a fixed-date, high-demand fixture, booking early beats hunting for a late deal; and flexing on area is almost always cheaper than flexing on date, because your travel is the expensive thing to move.

One night, two, or a day trip?
This is the part people get wrong. Paris is the one city in this cluster where a same-day return is genuinely possible — and still usually the wrong call.
- An evening kick-off does not fit a day trip. By the time a night match finishes and you have cleared the Métro back across the city, the last train to London has long gone. A weekend afternoon kick-off is the only version of this that works without a room.
- You are booking two things, not one. Your travel and your bed are tied together in a way they are not for a London ground. Sort the train first, then the hotel around it — not the other way round.
- Where you sleep decides your morning. A room near Gare du Nord means a lie-in and a short walk to the train. A room in the 16th means crossing Paris with a bag. Neither is wrong; just choose it deliberately.
🏆 League game vs European night
Not every fixture is the same booking
A routine league fixture is an easy booking — Paris absorbs it without noticing, and you can compare a few areas at leisure.
A Champions League night is a different proposition. The date is known well ahead, the visiting support books in volume from a single city, and demand concentrates on exactly the areas that are easy to reach from the ground. Add a Paris events calendar that is busy year-round and the pool thins faster than the crowd size alone would suggest.
If you already have a ticket and a train booked for a European night, sort the room the same week. If the ticket is not confirmed yet, take something cancellable.
