VBS Community Stadium Transport Guide: Every Way to Sutton United
The VBS Community Stadium on Gander Green Lane has one of the shortest station walks in English football — West Sutton is barely 200 metres from the turnstiles. The catch is that West Sutton has no step-free access at all, so anyone who needs a lift has to come in a different way entirely. Buffer is set to kick-off minus 30 minutes. The ground holds around 7,000, West Sutton station is a two-minute walk from the turnstiles, and the approach is a quiet residential street rather than a crowd funnel — 30 minutes is a comfortable margin here, not a tight one.

Getting home after
Step-free & accessible
West Sutton, the closest station, is not step-free: access to the platforms is by stepped footbridge only, there are no lifts, and the operator classes it as unsuitable for wheelchair users. An assistance meeting point is at the station entrance beside the ticket machine, and there is a help point on the platform.
For a step-free rail journey use Sutton station instead, which has lifts to all platforms (renewed in 2025), then take the 413 bus to the ground. All London buses are wheelchair accessible.
The ground has ten wheelchair spaces (seven home, three away) which must be booked in advance by emailing the club, plus accessible toilets at both ends of the ground and in the main stand. Wheelchair users who need to park at the stadium should tell the club in advance and arrangements will be made.
Note there are no lifts inside the ground — ambulant supporters who need a seat should expect a handful of steps.
