Ashes 2027 Tickets — Ballot Guide, Priority Access and What to Expect
Ashes tickets are the most sought-after in English cricket. In 2023, all five Tests sold out through the ballot before reaching general sale. This guide covers every route to getting tickets for the 2027 series — including the London matches at Lord’s and The Oval — from membership routes to the general ballot and what to do if you miss out.

How the ECB ballot works
The ECB uses a ballot for all England home Test matches. Rather than a first-come, first-served sale — which would crash servers and reward whoever happened to be online at the right second — the ballot gives everyone who registers a fair chance.
1
Registration window — fans register interest and select which Tests and match days they want. No guarantee of tickets at this stage.
2
Priority windows — county members and We Are England Cricket members each get their own purchase window before the general ballot. Tickets are allocated from these windows first.
3
General ballot — remaining tickets go to a randomised ballot from all other registered applicants.
4
General sale — any unsold tickets after the ballot. For major Ashes Tests, this stage rarely arrives with meaningful allocation remaining.
In 2023, the registration window opened in September 2022 — around nine months before the series began. Priority windows ran in October 2022. Based on that cycle, registration for 2027 is likely to open in late 2025 or early 2026.
Priority access routes
Host county membership
✅ First priority
We Are England Cricket
Second priority
The ECB’s official supporters club. Membership gives access to a dedicated priority purchase window for all England home Tests, including the Ashes, ahead of the general ballot. It is available to anyone and costs significantly less than county membership — the most accessible paid route to improving your chances in the ballot if you are not already a county member.
MCC membership — Lord’s only
~29-year wait
MCC Full Members have guaranteed priority access to purchase tickets for all matches at Lord’s, including Ashes Tests — the most reliable way to attend Lord’s for a major match. However, full membership has a waiting list of approximately 29 years. Joining the waiting list makes you an MCC Associate Member, which gives more limited access — including some match-day opportunities at Lord’s — while you wait for full membership.
Prices
⚡ 2027 pricing not yet announced
The ECB has not yet announced ticket prices for the 2027 series. As a general indicator from 2023, seats ranged from around £50 on later match days in back sections to over £150 for premium stands on early days of high-profile Tests. Lord’s premium stands were at the higher end. Children’s tickets were discounted across all grounds. We will update this page when 2027 pricing is announced.
What to expect in 2027
Competition for tickets
Based on demand in 2023 and the general trend of increasing interest in England home Ashes Tests, competition for tickets in 2027 is expected to be at least as fierce as in 2023. Both London Tests — Lord’s and The Oval — are among the most popular in any Ashes series. The Oval, as the traditional final Test, is frequently the most tightly contested if the series is still alive going into the fifth match.
If you miss the ballot
A small number of tickets typically return to sale close to match time due to cancellations or unallocated hospitality. The ECB and host venues do release these via their own websites and social channels. Official resale through the ECB’s ticketing platform is the safest secondary route — any tickets resold there go back at face value. Tickets on the secondary market also appear, though prices are significantly above face value for Ashes Tests.
Frequently asked questions
When will the Ashes 2027 ballot open?
No date has been confirmed. Based on the 2023 pattern, when the registration window opened in September 2022 for a June 2023 series start, registration for 2027 is likely to open in late 2025 or early 2026. Sign up to the Ashes 2027 waitlist and we’ll notify you the moment the window opens.
Do I need a membership to get Ashes tickets?
No. The general ballot is open to all fans who register. Membership (county or We Are England Cricket) improves your priority position in the allocation process, but it does not guarantee tickets and is not required to participate in the ballot.
Can I buy Ashes 2027 tickets now?
Not yet. Tickets for the 2027 series have not gone on sale. Match dates have not been confirmed and the ballot registration window has not opened. Any website currently claiming to sell Ashes 2027 tickets is not an authorised source. Join the waitlist to be alerted when official ticket sale begins.
Will there be family or children’s tickets?
Yes. The ECB offered junior tickets for all 2023 Ashes Tests, with significant discounts versus adult prices. Junior pricing and any junior-only sections will be confirmed when 2027 pricing is announced. For the London Tests, Lord’s and The Oval both have family-friendly seating areas.
