Ascot Racecourse sits in Berkshire and has staged racing since 1711. Its biggest meeting is Royal Ascot, five days of top-level Flat racing held every June, with four enclosures for different budgets and dress codes. The course also hosts British Champions Day each autumn, the finale to the British Flat season, and racing through the rest of the year. Ascot station, a 7-minute walk from the racecourse. South Western Railway runs direct trains from London Waterloo that take about 52 minutes on average, and also serves Ascot from Reading and Aldershot. Oyster and contactless cards are not valid to or from Ascot station, so buy a ticket in advance.

At Royal Ascot the Royal, Queen Anne and Village enclosures have dress codes, and the Windsor Enclosure has no official code. Fancy dress, novelty and branded clothing are not allowed in any of them. Check Ascot's published rules for your enclosure before you go.
At Royal Ascot, picnics are only allowed in the Windsor Enclosure, and nothing can be brought into the Royal, Queen Anne or Village enclosures. Bags are searched on entry at the gates, so travel light.
