🏟️ Loftus Road Local Guide
Loftus Road, officially known as the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, is a 17,439-capacity football ground in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, and the home of Queens Park Rangers (QPR). Compact, characterful, and surrounded by local housing, it’s one of the most traditional football venues in London, famous for its close-to-the-pitch stands and old-school atmosphere.
📝 History of Loftus Road
Loftus Road first hosted football in 1904 and became QPR’s permanent home in 1917. The stadium was the first in Britain to introduce an all-seater layout in 1981 and was ahead of its time with installed floodlights and electronic scoreboards. It’s hosted not only QPR matches but also Fulham and Wasps RFC during groundshares. In 2019, it was renamed the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium to honour the memory of Kiyan Prince, a QPR youth player tragically killed in 2006. Despite plans for a future relocation, Loftus Road remains one of the most intimate football experiences in London.
