🏟️ Brisbane Road Local Guide

Brisbane Road, officially known as the Gaughan Group Stadium (formerly Matchroom Stadium), is a 9,271-capacity football ground in Leyton, East London, and the home of Leyton Orient FC. Compact and community-focused, it’s one of London’s most traditional lower-league venues — known for its friendly atmosphere, accessible location, and modern touches that preserve its old-school football charm.

📝 History of Brisbane Road

Brisbane Road has been Leyton Orient’s home since 1937, though football has been played on the site since 1890. The ground underwent major redevelopment between 2005 and 2007, replacing open terraces with modern all-seater stands while maintaining the close-quarters feel that defines its character. It’s hosted England youth matches, women’s football, and even served as the temporary home of Tottenham Hotspur’s U23 team. In 2023, it was renamed the Gaughan Group Stadium after a new sponsorship deal.
